A Rural Focus
Of the world’s 1.2 billion people living in poverty, 800 million live in rural areas. Subsistence farmers, herders, artisans and migrant workers around the world face myriad challenges in rural environments as they struggle to build better lives for themselves and their families.

Rural people often live in marginalized communities cut off from essential services. Whether due to geographic isolation, political marginalization, neglect or other factors, in almost all countries, access to food, education, basic health care, potable water, transport and communication for the rural poor is extremely limited.

With experience and expertise in rural settings, LWR works to address these issues and help rural communities lift themselves out of poverty.
